Custom Operational Architecture · Water Industry
Custom intelligent operating systems for the water industry, designed around how your company actually works, and owned by you.
Designed and led by a licensed California water and wastewater operator.
The problem
In most water organizations, one person is the system. Knowledge, decisions, and compliance all live in a single head, or scattered across tools that were never built for how the company actually works. It holds, until a vacation, a departure, or a missed deadline proves it doesn't. This is the Founder Ceiling, and it is a systems problem, not a leadership one.
Industry studies put this much of a leader's day into coordination, status-checking, and administration instead of strategy, growth, or serving the public.
A common estimate of what fragmented workflows, rework, missed follow-ups, and preventable overhead cost an organization each year.
Institutional memory can disappear the moment one key person departs, is unavailable, or burns out.
The shift
The era of renting generic software is ending. Building custom systems used to be slow and expensive. It is not anymore. Forward-looking companies are choosing to own the infrastructure they operate on instead of paying forever for tools that fit them poorly. Commodity tools like email and accounting are fine to rent. The systems that encode how your specific company works are worth owning, so your institutional knowledge stays inside the organization, not inside one person or one vendor's product. PIVOT brings that shift to the water industry.
Built for water utilities, public agencies, environmental and engineering firms, and regulated operators.
What we build
We start with how your operation actually works, then design and build the systems on top of it, module by module, only where the value is clear. Reporting, cloud infrastructure, telemetry pipelines, integrations. If it runs your operation, it can be built, and it belongs to your company.
Map how your operation works and design the data foundation everything else stands on, in cloud infrastructure your company owns.
Management, operational, and regulatory reporting and dashboards that show the real state of the work, in real time.
Regulatory monitoring, obligation tracking, and risk flagging built for water and wastewater.
Bring SCADA and field telemetry in through your own MQTT brokers, so live plant and system data flows into one operating picture.
Task, workflow, and field execution, plus document and contract intelligence that carry work forward with context.
Client and stakeholder portals, and integrations with the software you already use.
How it works
Every engagement is scoped in writing before anything begins. No long term commitment is required to start.
A contained, fixed fee first engagement. We map how your operation works, inventory your systems and data, design your operational architecture, and prove the approach with working output built from your real data. You leave with the architecture, a prioritized roadmap, and a scoped plan for what comes next.
We construct your operational data foundation and the systems on top of it, one module at a time, priced per defined milestone, built only where the value has been demonstrated.
Your company owns the system. We can stay involved for maintenance, evolution, and new capabilities as you grow. Optional means optional. Declining it never affects your ownership.
Ownership
This is company infrastructure, not a subscription. You own the system we build for you, and you are never renting the software your company runs on.
Your data, your database, your reports, your workflows, your integrations, your deployed system, and the documentation to run it with or without us.
If you ever sell the company, the system goes with it. Owned, documented infrastructure changes the valuation conversation.
No subscriptions and no per-seat fees to operate your system. You are never locked into a vendor to keep it running.
PIVOT owns the reusable framework beneath every build. Your business receives a permanent, royalty free license to run your system on it, under the terms of your agreement. We keep that framework so we can keep advancing it, and empower the water industry as a whole.
You can maintain and extend your system with any team you choose.
Who is behind it
PIVOT is designed and led by a licensed water and wastewater operator in the State of California, with experience managing as many as 90 public water systems and 175 wastewater treatment plants at the same time. That comes with deep regulatory fluency across drinking water compliance, multi-state regulatory environments, and the day to day realities of field operations.
We build and run these systems in our own practice, so the methods are proven on our own operations before they are ever proposed to yours. This is not generic software development, and it is not management consulting that ends in a report. It is operational fluency plus the engineering to turn it into working infrastructure you own.
